For those who own a Red Sea Reefer Deluxe with the AI Hydra 26 models:
I noticed the clamp near the waterline beginning to corrode, after just a year and a half with water. The black paint started to flake off leaving a crusty metal below. Around the same time I noticed my acans and euphyillias started to show signs of stress. It could be a million things affecting them, so I can't draw any definitive conclusions that the light clamp was the cause. Just to be safe I did an ATI ICP test and found Chrome levels to be higher than normal. After some research I found that Chrome is found in stainless which I assume the light clamp is made of.
I did take the lights down, used a wire wheel brush on my drill to remove loose paint and corrosion, and painted them with rustoleum. They look great and will probably get more than a year and half out of them before I need to repeat the procedure.
Lot of assumptions I know, nonetheless would like to hear other's opinions/experiences.
