Hey Everyone

I have a red sea 300xl running.

Has anyone figured out the process to tune the gate valve to make the tank silent (from water running down the pipes to sump)?

The value controls water level in the overflow box.
Currently its fairly quiet but I can hear the water in the pipes.
The water level in overflow box is above the main large downpipe and at exactly the same level as the other taller pipe (Im not sure which is the emergency).
So the remaining sound I hear is water running down the taller pipe.

Does anyone know the target water level in the overflow box?
Should it be above the lower pipe but below the taller one?

Thanks for your help :)
Jamie

I’ve got the S650 and I think it’s the same valve, although I replaced that RS valve a few months ago with a standard gate valve in the sump.

You need to adjust it so the water level is just below the level of the emergency overflow pipe (the taller one) , or just slightly trickling down it, and it should then be silent

Its very sensitive, so make small adjustments and leave it for a few minutes and then readjust as necessary

Its about time RS got rid of that valve and used a gate valve in the sump

Yes thats whats put me off trying to get it right because as soon as you touch the valve the water starts screaming through the pipes and the level in the overflow box swings massively high or low.

Now I know what Im aiming for, it should be much easier - thanks much appreciated :)

So after a little playing around it's deadly silent! The level is at or just below the emergency overflow pipe. Thanks for your help :)
