I am considering getting a Reefer Peninsula Deluxe 650. I want t to be a sps dominated system and I was wondering what I should do for flow. I have 2 maxpect gyre xf250’s and I am wondering how they would work or if there is something better from a flow perspective.

If it helps we have 2x FX250's on a 750xxl and there's more then sufficient at the moment.

Long term if the tank gets super sps dense I'd probably add another pair but that's generally needed in any tank anyway over time once the coral density has built up.

Im more worried about where im going to mount them since its a Peninsula tank

As a reefer owner, would you suggest the 650 to someone like myself- I want a new system that is more streamlined and looks nice

We liked both the peninsula systems as well as the reefer systems. We would've liked the peninsula but for the space we had and wanted the over flow at one particular end of the tank which meant the doors were against the wall and therefore not much use .

They do work well as a system goes
With the 750XXL the glass is 19mm, anything magnet wise is a bit more awkward (pump mounts, magnet scrapers etc) otherwise we like the system.

For Liz the positive about a reefer system was that it was that it was pretty much all sorted and although Luke has paid a small fortune on kit as everything has been from new for the first time ever but it is pretty compact for everything.

I wonder how the expect us to mount powerbeads on that tank because if you mount it on the side opposite the overflow the point of the 3 unobstructed viewing sides is pointless.

Honestly, our 750xxl is viewable from 2 sides one with a gyre on it, the actual pump isn't overly obtrusive bizarrely I get more irritated by the power cable in shot!

I'd also factor in some form of covernet.

Knowing that I know now of i were to have a peninsula I'd fork out the extra for a custom covernet and somehow build into it a neat cable management system and have the covernet always on with feeding hatches etc and then have a gyre opposite wall or i guess you could consider putting two gyres vertically by the overflow and have them on an anti sync so they push and pull, youd end up with an interesting flow dynamic assuming you can get heavy enough sand (if using) to take the extra flow so low down. I always wanted to try gyres vertically I just never got round to it.

I wonder what sand I should use- ill look into it
