Hi all

The valve on my Red Sea reefer has become impossible to balance and is driving me insane. Level in overflow is either too high and pouring down emergency drain or too low and setting off my ato alarm. Worked well for a year but now it’s impossible to find that no noise sweet spot. Despite half a mm adjustments, valve cleaned, dc pump cleaned and adjusted (Max 4000 lph, powerheads switched off, leaving 20 mins between valve adjustments etc etc I desperately want to rip it out and install a gate valve. Seen loads of threads with instructions for reefer 170 valve replacement but none for reefer nano. Can it be done?! Would love to know if anyone has done it as I’m just about ready to close my tank down if there is no solution to the continual battle. Such a shame because otherwise I love this tank! Thanks :)

Yes...I was going to change the plumbing out but ended upgrading instead. It is the same concept.

Mine didn't have the issues yours did...I was able to dial it in after some trial and error but I agree it is annoying.

Ha, yes, I’ve thought about upgrading to the 170 as an easier solution! Did you stick with Red Sea?

Interestingly, this evening I’ve reduced return pump to number 3 (of 20) and it seems to have helped a little. Maybe I’ll try dropping to 2 tomorrow if the dreaded gurgling starts again overnight.

No, I did not stick with red sea. I believe all red seas use that type of valve so upgrading to a 170 would still need some work if you want better control.

I have the parts you need if you want to purchase them.. I have not gotten around to listing them for sale yet.

Are the parts you have definitely suitable for the nano? I might be very interested in buying them from you, thank you!
