Does anyone know when/ if version 3 will be available in the US? I saw these specs on a stores site and it sounds really nice.

New V3 upgrade

As part of Red Sea’s commitment to continues development and improvement of their products they have launched several enhancements to most of the Reefer models (referred to as “V3”). While there are no changes to the overall external appearance or main features, there are some key improvements which are expected to be welcomed by hobbyists.

These Include:

Refugium-ready sumps with the downflow valve positioned at the front of the cabinet (not applicable to the Reefer 170).

Increased volume for R.O reservoir

Introduction of a new filter cup supplied in addition to a micron filter bag. (this item will soon be made available for existing customers as a standalone item for aftermarket upgrade)

Plywood cabinet with levelling feet (only applicable to XL425 & XL525 models)

Solid changes! Hadn't heard the updates were coming.
I had to address all of those myself: made the ATO tank into refugium, added new ATO reservoir, bought a cup (haven't actually used it yet tho)

Alright:
This is what Red Sea Kev told me:

"The Reefer V3 variant is now being rolled out in the UK and Europe, the USA is imminent, in all honesty you are best checking with Red Sea USA because each market is different.

As for cabinets with plywood cabinets this is only for the 425 xl and up, whilst the Reefer 250 & 350 have upgraded sumps the cabinets are technically the same with the exception of some pilot holes for the rearranged pipework"

I'll try... to upload the sump diagrams later on... ;Wacky

And the (V3) sump diagrams that Kevin Davies emailed...

Can I order JUST a new sump and piping for my 525xl???

Mmmmm, I may have to check with my LFS Red Sea dealer.

Emailed Red Sea USA and they said essentially no exact timeline yet, but hoping they start to be available in about three months.

Any idea if the deluxe will still have the hydra 26s?

Well, it’s already here in the US.

But looks like the return may be a pain to service.

What makes the return a pain to service?

It looks to me that Red Sea is just incorporating the sump changes they made to the XXL tanks into the rest of the product line.

Because the return will be hidden in the last chamber.

I received a V3 Reefer 250 Deluxe about a week ago. While the sump layout is nice, it looks a bit tight for the larger submersible heaters (12+ inches long). I may have to go with 2 smaller heaters. What is everyone else doing?

Just received my 525 and almost killed myself putting it in storage. I live in third floor condo but I'm moving to a house in less then a month hence the new aquarium. I have been out of the hobby for about 8 years and my brain is on overload. Haven't looked at the sump yet. I wonder if I got a v3?

^^^^^^ You should inspect everything to make sure nothing is broken. I found out the hard way, 6 54 watt ATI bulbs all broken. Never have light bulbs shipped at Christmas time.
