Hi! I'm not new to saltwater aquariums but it's been a few years. My husband and I are getting a new tank and are torn between the Red Sea Reefer and the brand-spanking new E-series. We are planning on a reef set up. The benefit I see to the E-series is it comes with everything as opposed to the Reefer, which I would need to get lighting, a protein skimmer, and circulation fans. The Reefer has a below in-cabinet sump, we are looking at is a 54 gallon display with an 11 gallon sump, vs the E-series which has a 56 gallon display and a 13 gallon rear sump, with an optional 12 gallon in-cabinet sump. Is there any benefit or draw back to one vs the other? I appreciate ANY and ALL input. Thanks!

I think this comes down to personal preference when it comes to the equipment side of things. Since you indicated you're not new to the hobby, you know the varied levels of equipment. If you're okay with the included gear, no reason not to go with the E series. The Reefer series on the other hand gives you options on most all the equipment.

I have a friend that just set up a Reefer 450 and I will say it's a beautiful system. Let us know which way you go.

I really like the e-series although have yet to see it available to purchase

Mainly it depends on if you like the light, skimmer, and built in sump the e series comes with. If you like the Hydra it comes with then go for the E series but if you were going to use radions or t5 the reefer series would be the way to go since you get to personalize your tank. I like having a sump myself but I wasn't clear if you'd have to buy a sump kit if you wanted to use it on the e series or if it comes with it. I'd go for the reefer series myself.
