My water evaporates faster than my the auto top up on my Red Sea Reefer can refill it.

Has anyone has this before? I’m heading away in a few months and looking to have this sorted before I go away

Depends in the temp in your home and how dry your air is. I don't see how that's possible unless your home is 100 degrees.

I can assure you my return camber runs very low.

It’s the top right camber in this persons photo

No matter that I do I cannot refill it fast enough

I don't see how that is possible.

Which ATO are you using?

Who said anything about your return chamber? I asked if the devil is sitting on your couch when you walk through during the day for a glass of water?

Haha, if your home is super hot, then it will evaporate fast. If it's not hot, then you don't have enough water in the system and the ATI just adds water to the system and it's needed. You just think it's running out but it doesn't have enough water to begin with.

The default Red Sea Reefer one?
I'm not familiar with the system but it should have an installation guide.
It sounds like it is not set up correctly.

You need to provide more information such as which model reef system.
Is the ATO the 3 in One ReefATO+ ??

Does your ATO have a set maximum run time like the Tunze? It is possible, if you have a dramatic amount of evaporation, that the ATO doesn’t run long enough each time it is cycled on. I would think that would take an enormous amount of evaporation though.

Is it the old or current ATO? Does it have a sensor and pump or a float? The only things I can think of are an incorrect install, a stuck float or the water lever is just too low to start with.

Does the return run dry and the OTA reservoir stays full? Or does the reservoir drain completely and the water level stays too low?

So add more salt water into the system you think?

Yes most likely, if your ATO is setup correctly. Just go slow and watch your Salinity level and adjust your return valve. I've found on that valve if you adjust a bit more open, it will catch up with flow and work better. Small adjustments.

Sounds like you have an ATO with a float. It fills into the return chamber, which is always low. Your system definitely needs more water. I have the same system on 425xl. My 5 gallon ato will last a week.

Is it the default one with the float valve and the glass tank above? I had that, and the small nylon plunger in the float valve was not moving freely.
