I have 2 Red Sea 90 led lights, last night I got a connection issue alert. The light did not turn on this morning. Upon checking it I see that the power and connection light on the light itself are slowly flashing. Also the power supply blue led light are at a slow pulse on and off. I can’t seem to reset the unit by holding down the button as troubleshooting shows. I also disconnected for a full minute but when I plug back in, it reverts to the same flashing. Any help is appreciated.

I'd put a call into RedSea directly. There have been documented issues with their new LED's

Def put in support ticket to red sea. I had similar happen. You can try this. Unplug power for 15 secs or so. Plug back in. Go into app and change lights to a different program ie 10k to 15k and apply it. Then if they come on. Go back to your old program. Worked for me but your results may vary.

Appreciate it but didn’t work for me. I have an email in to them and hopefully get a response ASAP. I have to believe it’s the power supply box. It’s not solid blue like the other. It comes on blue and fades off, then back on

These lights are making me crazy, I'm constantly getting disconnected notices even when everything appears to be working fine, this morning I woke up and my tank moonlights were on, one light shows disconnected, trying to run a program pops up an error stating "led does not run any program", programs lists "unknown" instead of my selected program. Hardware is great, this software is the worst! I wish I had something I could just manually control.

Okay this is what you do. Pop the top off and unscrew all screws to get to internals after you unplug it for a hour. Dont touch anything in it that could shock you. You will see a button battery for the memory/ bios. Take it put and wait 60 seconds and then put it back in the same way you removed it. That will reset the light to factory default and reset the light. Just re link when you first got it. Worked for me and seems to fix the problem for me long term. Only had to do this once.

Yeah, the early units have had some connection issues. Hopefully they sort them out quickly.
What @crabcore wrote above will work. It is kinda the last resort that RS recommends.

Short of that, you can try this. It took me a couple of tries and is a goofy process and difficult to do with just 2 hands.

Unplug the male female AC to DC connector. Now hold the reset button down. Keep the button pressed. Now very quickly connect and disconnect the male / female connector three times in succession. Gotta be quick, so don't plug it all the way together, just long enough to see the connection light flash on. On the fourth connection, release the button. This is a hard reset that accomplishes what carbcore said without opening the fixture.

All that said, your problem could be different. I had a solid light at the brick, not the flashing one you describe.

I like their dense LED array under the single lens (kinda Kessil like) but as for the software... needs work. AI software for the win.

Thanks I'll give this a try, been in contact with their CS via their FB group this am so waiting to hear back on that end as well.

I hope this works for you like it did for me. The light is pretty awesome for what it is price wise. I run 1 on a 40g breader sps lps mix tank and they love it.

That's a cool trick good to know thank you!

They sent a new power supply and it was a problem since it was flashing, but when I plugged it in it didn’t connect. I emailed Red Sea and was told to open it up and remove the battery to reset it. It worked. I was a bit surprised that a company wanted you to take it apart, but they even sent a link to a video of how to take it apart.

That is interesting. They already have new replacement circuit boards ready to ship. That is a curious thing. But I think it is cool in a way. Like ATI has videos on how to replace ballasts & fans on their fixtures.

Yep.

How did you remove the battery? I’m having trouble doing so because I’m scared to mess anything up

If you don't want to remove the battery, you can try this that I posted earlier in the thread:

power down and unplug. I just popped the top off that covers the can then unscrewed all the top screws. the battery had a small metal bar holding it down i gently moved to the side and moved the battery out of the spot gently.

I just returned 2 50w lights because of connectivity issues...That ran perfect for a week until yesterday...maybe linked ? I got two other lights and said screw it I’m not dealing with it any longer.

I have 3 and have been fighting with them since I bought them in July and have about given up. I voiced my concern with the company and their rep told me it was likely my router or expander are too old or too far away. Both are newer model net gear (less than 3 years old), router about 30' away and booster 5' away. everything in my home is wireless and works perfectly, not a single problem with disconnect from my Mac which is in the furthest room with the door closed a majority of the time.

I currently see the lights are trying to connect to a db signal strength of -42 up to -49 on a 2.4ghz. I'm not sure how to make the signal stronger nor do I really feel I should have to. Does anyone have this reading with success?

I don't want to bad mouth Red Sea as I like their products, in fact I just bought a new 525xl, but dam these lights are just not very cooperative and I really wish I had just bought something else. Any help is greatly appreciated.

After two complete disconnects in the first two months that required site visits and reboots they have been steady for the last four weeks. Hydras and Radions have their own issues but nothing like this. I predict/hope for a firmware upgrade to deal with reconnection issues. Everyone's WiFi bounces. Duh.
