Reefers, I currently have 2 reefleds 90s on my reefer 250 and currently using the 23k settings but I fill like some of my sps are not getting enough light ( par ) I have a Walt Disney tenuis and a rainbow tenuis also a wolverine acro and their all in the 220 250 par range but haven't noticed any growth or colour especially in the walt Disney tenuis and the rainbow tenuis in a few months can anyone recommend good setting for sps please..

Walt Disney is above the stylo

Thank you

I have found my tenuis prefer light in the 400+ range. I know many people recommend 250-350 par and have proven it works. But my corals always have looked better and grown better under more par than that.

I have no experience with your lights, but would recommend slowly ramping them up (if you can) over a couple months to see if you get better growth or color. Here’s a good video showing how high of par these corals can handle if acclimated correctly. It also shows how some prefer lower par. I’ve seen Abe's tank in person multiple times and colors are amazing.

why not using the white ? Thats not a reccomended spectrum , even on the box. SPS does best with 15k main photoperiod which would be even settings of white and blue ( thats why they made it that way) and if your a "cooker" and want color but slow growth go for 20k which would be half white to blue at any intensity. I run somewhere around 18k with my t5s and with rs90@ 70% blue and 30% white with single layer clouds for 6 hours then it drops to all blue for 5 hours. Its important to use the cloud setting they also put that in there for a reason.

Thank you for the reply mate. I'll check the video out and also using the 23k preset is 100% blue with 10% white so how much % should I ramp up daily or weekly?

Id say on the slower side to be safe. Maybe 5-10% every week or two. If you have a par meter you can make sure it’s not jumping up too quick. Mainly keep an eye on your corals and if they look lighter (bleaching) then your going too fast. Do the lights have an acclimation mode? If they have an acclimation mode you can adjust your lights to your desired par/spectrum and set to a percentage similar to you current par, and have them ramp up over time on there own. I know the AI lights have this mode. Not too familiar with the Red Sea lights tho.

Also I agree with @NanoDJS
A whiter spectrum could help, I wouldn’t go bluer than AB+ (witch in my opinion is still too blue) but obviously has had great results. But you will get lower k by ramping up your whites anyways

I've changed my settings to 90% blue and 65% white and put on acclimation mode over 30 days would this be ok?

Perfect! What pat are you getting at full intensity? In other words, what will the par be once the acclimation is complete? If it’s more than double I’d make it more like 50 days...

what were you running and how long were you running it. I think something more like 60 % full intensity would be fine even thats a little low at 37%

I was running 23k preset which was 100% blue, uv and 10% white for about 7 months I have had growth but very slow in the lps.. I think the 37% intensity means thats what I'm on now during the acclimation period and it will slowly ramp up.. not to sure how the acclimation mode works on these lights

I'm not sure what the par would be at full intensity I'd probably say around the 400 to 500 range ‍♂️

Try and set your initial intensity to a similar par you have now and let it go up to your new intensity from there. If your currently at 250 and plan to go up to 500, I’d do that over a few months, 60 days at least (I’d go more like 90). Keep a close eye on how they are reacting. By going slow you can also stop the intensity from rising too quickly if problems do occur.

I curious how you have been doing. I bought my Red Sea 250 in May 2020. I have two Red Sea 90’s. This has been a constant struggle of mine. I can’t get my sps to grow and I just added a new
Sps to the tank and it bleached out 4 days later. I feel like I keep dialing the lights back but this is starting to get so frustrating I am thinking about getting a different light setup.

Did you have any more luck dialing these in?
