Red Sea skimmer only making small bubbles

A few days ago the skimmer on my Red Sea C-130 started foaming and overflowing. It has been working great since November (occasional overflow, but that's all skimmers). The weird thing about this is that it is all foam, not larger bubbles like usual. I took the cup off because it was filling up with water in about 5 minutes.

Does this indicate something in the water or a mechanical issue? I haven't had the time to pull it out and check the pump, but the airline is clear. It seems like it's getting plenty of air and flow.

Smaller bubbles is key, and your skimmer does need a adjustment. There’s a handle to adjust air flow. Turn it slowly and wait for the skimmer to stop overflowing. Wait again. Leave collection cup, but allow hose for over flow to remain in sump. Skimmers react quickly when adding different chemicals, but don’t worry. This is normal, and should stop overflowing soon after the adjustment.

Im not familiar with RS systems or skimmers but increased foaming would most likely indicate something in water as mechanical issues usually result in degraded performance not increased the only exception would be if the air line or silencer (if it has one) was blocked and for whatever reason has cleared itself..
what have you done to the tank over the last week? additives, filter sock changes, and livestock deaths can sometimes dramatically increase foaming.. I changed a filter sock recently and I guess it hadn’t been rinsed well, my skimmer overflowed like crazy for hours.
