Red Sea Test Kit

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I have never kept freshwater tanks other than when I worked in a pet store. I have a friend having an issue with their cichlid tank. They don’t have any test kits on hand. I am going over there this weekend and was wondering if I would be able to use my Red Sea Kit for ammonia and nitrates. Thank you in advance.

The test kit will work for ammonia. Not sure about the nitrate kit.
