I am thinking this is red slime algae, right? I noticed it last week and siphoned it out, but it has returned. It's only in one small area of the tank. I ran tank parameter tests and had the following:
Ammonia - 0, Nitrite - 0, Nitrate - 0, pH - 8.1, Alkalinity - 7 (working on bumping it up), Calcium - 410, Magnesium - 1400. 32g Biocube that has been running for four years. Recent changes/additions: Chaeto refugium started approx. two months ago. Supplemental clean up crew - hermits and snails added two weeks ago. No changes to feeding habits or lighting times.

Any thoughts on cause? Is this related to the fuge? Did it hitch along with the clean-up crew? From what I am reading, chemical solutions include Vibrant, Boyd Chemiclean, and Red Sea Nopox. Opinions? Is there an invert or fish solution?

Thanks!

It is cyano.

It might be fuge related (new add on) and your nitrates have bottomed out.

Vibrant and or NoPox will make it worse. They both contain carbon sources that will "fuel" the cyano, even more.

Need to bring up your nitrates and try Chemiclean, if you feel like you need to do a treatment.

These are the only things that I use for a CUC
