Hi all,

Recently I start having an excessive growth of this algae/sponge like thing on my rocks and corals. At first I thought it might be cyano but it does not look anything I have seen before (I am in the hobby over 15 years now). This tank is up and running little over a year (16 months to be exact). Used rocks from my previous tank and in that tank had the same problem on one rock but that was very small and when I siphoned it during water change it never came back until now. The lights were T5 and on for 12-16 hr depending on the color, but it was like this for over 1 year bulbs changed periodically, still to avoid the light problem I replaced the T5 with MH and nothing changed except the color got slightly more red.

So my question is if anybody had this before and know what it is. I would also appreciate if anybody knows how to treat it.

Thanks in advance.

It might be form of dino's.
Did you test for Cyano to rule that out.
