Red Slime growing on my cheato?

I built a DIY basket in the rear compartment for my JBJ 45 and threw some Cheato in there and its been growing pretty well. I have notices some red slime growth on the Cheato though is this a problem? I have never seen any slime in my display tank and have nearly zero algae in the display.

Probaly cyano feeding off of the detritus that collects. It's kind of the problem with having chato in the basket. It acts as a mechanical filter like floss.

makes sense Im gonna improve on the design anyways I picked up a two little fishies 550 reactor so Im gonna build an algae reactor.
Hopefully I wont run into the same problem.

You can rinse the chaeto every now and then to get the gunk out. Youll lose a bunch of pods though, but they'll replenish in time. Rinse in tank water

I did a hob fuge. I wound up putting a sponge over the pump to cut down on the detritus build up in the filter.

My son's tank did the same thing so now I just replace weekly ithe my trimmings
