Red slime algae is taking over my tank...and I don't know how to stop it! I've used chemi clean which sorta worked, but then a week or so later red slime popped back up. I use an RODI unit, so its not that I'm using tap water. I'm running chemi pure elite (bought bc i thought maybe the phos levels too high) and purigen. nothing seems to work. I've been doing weekly water changes about 30%, and after 2 days the algae comes back. Really just trying to get rid of it and in desperate search of tips or ideas on how to do so.

10 gallon nano with 1 clown and 1 firefish. 1 hermit and a couple of snails.
I have a sicce return pump with about 200gph, and a powerhead that pushes 240. I feel like there is a good amount of flow in the tank...maybe i need to angle the powerhead down?

Only time I get a little bit of the red slime is when my TDS reads high. Have u tested ur RODI water? And maybe a little hang on back skimmer if u can get one for that small of a tank. I hate the red slime feel for ya

Yup I have a TDS meter. test my water each time and it reads 0. always test my tap (reads about 80) to make sure my TDS meter isn't frozen/broken on 0. I'm running a DIY nano reef glass skimmer which works okay. lots of light skimmate pulled out

Yea well idk what else can make that happen.

here is a 100% guaranteed fix. sight unseen, solely because your tank is ten gallons. The size of the tank determines how easy your fix is, not the actual invader...strange factoid.

its a big read agreed, six or so years worth work in one thread, scan just for before and after pics, shows patterns. cure goldmine of free info though. It is literally not possible to run a ten gallon tank through that thread and it come out invaded or cloudy on the other end.
