My tank is about a year and half old it's a 75 gallon my skimmer went down for weeks and I finally got a new one but in the mean time I have red slime algae and it's all over my green star polyps and I use a turkey Baster and it comes over like big clumps off the coral why would it do this ?

Cyanobacteria can get out if hand quickly. Do your best with manual removal, but you need to get to the source of the problem. Having a good quality skimmer will definitely help, make sure the rest of your water parameters are in check. Especially Phosphate.
Last ditch effort, use ChemiClean. It works, but overdosing can be disastrous.
If you end up going the ChemiClean route, follow all the directions to the letter....
Best of luck... Most of us have been there at some point...

Yeah I have a long time ago and now it's back but I think
It's cause my skimmer wasn't in Service for weeks

I don't think skimmer help control cyano or got anything to do with cyano. It's your feeding schedule, flow and waste build up and nutrition balance have the most effect for cyano out break. I don't have skimmer in my tank and I did get minor cyano but I was overfed phytoplankton in my tank, after cut back my phytoplankton feeding, I did more frequent water changes and cyano went away by itself pretty much a week later.
