Having recently changed my skimmer and reactor I developed red algae. I’ve been trying to get rid of it for several weeks without success - so finally used Ultra Life Red Stain Remover.

This appears to have solved the problem but my skimmer has gone mad - I’ve done a water change but it hasn’t made a difference. In effect the skimmer is currently useless as it is just overflowing even though it’s on the lowest setting. Can anyone offer a solution please?

Take the top off skimmer- will calm it down

Maintain proper marine pH between 8.1 and 8.4 with buffers or with kalkwasser. A high pH helps discourage aggressive growth of Red Slime Algae. Supplement existing filtration with phosphate-removing chemical filter media. Use a reverse osmosis system for quality source water.
