Red Slime

Red slime is a type of bacteria and often occurs when there is too much light and nutrients in particular elevated nitrate and phosphate as well as lack of skimming, using tap water or RODI cartridges expired/used up
I recommend to reduce white light intensity or even turn them off for 5-7 days. Siphon as much as you can then Add liquid bacteria such as MicroBacter 7 daily for a week during the day at 1.5ml per 10 gallons. Add Hydrogen peroxide at night at 1ml per 10 gallons preferably to the sump. Add a pouch of chemipure Elite which will balance phos and nitrate and keep them in check.

After the week, add a few snails such as cerith, margarita, astrea and nassarius plus 6-8 blue leg hermits to take control.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!!

I have used chemiclean in the past. Just make sure to very carefully follow the directions.

Do you have any pictures under white light? Sometimes Dino and red slime/cyano can look similar.

welcome aboard the r2r board!

cyano can be beat by increasing the # of cerith snails, dosing microbacter clean and microbacter 7 as well as increasing flow and filtration. as mentioned, lowering nutrients/lighting can help as well

Welcome! Glad you joined.

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This might help you find people local to you:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:
