Red snail like shell on Candy Cane coral

So was just doing some video on my system and noticed this red shell and what looked to me as a worm at first. Did remove it from the system just want to find out if it is good or bad. And if bad what's needed next! No new additions of any sort to the tank for a few months.

Vermetid Snail. It may irritate corals so you can superglue it shut or take a pair of pliers and remove it.

Man that thing is big thouhght they were always the small white ones. Definitely bothering the coral. Just took the whole piece out. Thanks!
