Any ideas? Randomly showed up a couple days ago and the clownfish is acting and eating just fine

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

What other fish are in with it? It seems a lot larger than that other clown, so I doubt that one injured it.

There is a disease known as uronema that looks like this, but I can't recall seeing it on a big clownfish before. Also, this looks like a long term captive, and you typically see Uronema on fish that you've purchase in the last 30 days or less.

Here's an article I wrote up on Uronema, but don't let it alarm you, I'm leaning towards this being more of a random injury:

@Uncle99 and @Jay Hemdal it’s the two mated clowns in my evo 13.5 gallons, they’ve been in the tank for about a year and lay eggs frequently. I just added a lawnmower blenny right before and did a water change the night before so I’ve now come to the conclusion of ammonia burn. Does that sound correct?

So mature bonded pair…..nice.
Sorry it does not to me.
I would have expected redness in the gill area, not just mid body.
Maybe a bite mark.
Watch carefully, if it grows, that could be a problem.
If it was a bite, should look very much better in two weeks or so and completely gone in a month to 6 weeks.

Don’t treat until you can make a reasonable diagnosis, no use adding any outside stresses at this time.

Research Uronema to be prepared if it goes south. BCC28879-6AED-4102-9AB5-9BFAE0942778.jpeg

It doesn't sound like ammonia to me; you'd see that affecting other animals, and the water change wouldn't cause high ammonia.
