When you say manually remove it, do you mean by just shifting the sand ?yes part of the cycle with a new tank is the red covering on your sand = Cyano. It will likely get worse before it goes away. It kinds of lumps together so you can manually lift it out in sheets... or gravel vac when you do water changes. If it does not go away on its own... starts covering your rocks and killing coral you can buy a product that gets rid of Cyano but IMO b/c your tank is new.. I would just manually remove every week and let it run is course.
Neptune!
Turkey baster works pretty well. When you say manually remove it, do you mean by just shifting the sand ?
I found out it’s not cyano and Its diatomsyes manually remove it. Many choices. I used a fish net as it barely disturbed the sand and picked up the cyano. Yes it removed some sand with it but really it doesn't. The cyano is such a weird texture you can lift it with a net or your hand. turkey baster would work well also...
I found manually removing it, waiting 2 months and it is gone.
Good luck!
