Hey guys so a little concerned regarding some red streaks on my new foxface. Currently going through TTM and on his second transfer. I did a two day transfer the first time and will probably do 2 days again as he’s quite large.

I am using prime in the tank to curb any ammonia / nitrates and not feeding until just before the transfer.

I started dosing kanaplex yesterday as I thought it could possibly be a bacterial infection but I’m not sure if it looks more like internal bleeding as he did thrash around a fair bit during the initial and first transfers.

Anyone have any other suggestions or thoughts on what it could be?

Seems to be swimming around fine but is pacing a bit obviously due to the stress of quarantine. I really only noticed it last night after the transfer and it hasnt gotten worse but hasn’t gotten any better.

Photos are a bit unclear but basically it’s his tailfin and a little bit on his back top fin area

Ive seen this before and can a huge vitamin deficiency. These fish require vegetation and amino in their diet. Feed at minimum:
Formula 2 flake and frozen
Mysis shrimp
Spirulina brine shrimp
LRS herbivore diet

add selcon vitamins to its’ food

Okay great he will get fed plenty of juicy things once he’s done with TTM - I have given him some nori in between for now along with some spirulina pellets - will this have much adverse impact on his health between now and late next week when he’s finished TTM?

Probably a good preventative move as sometimes those can be a symptom of bacterial infection setting in. But if you see those red areas growing you have to act quickly to save the fish. NFG powder is excellent for treating those infections.

Thanks, that’s certainly what I am fearing - I can’t get NFG powder in Australia unfortunately so I will have to make do with kanaplex - I do also have sulfaplex but not sure if that will do to much.

Can you get Furan2 and Methylene Blue?

Still no changes to his red marks at this stage. He is acting erratically though, pacing the glass swimming up and down. I would imagine he’s super stressed but never had a fish be this erratic in a QT tank before.

No signs of any other diseases or ailments.

Any suggestions on what I can do to calm him down

Tank lights off only ambient room light.

Wrap the back and end walls of the tank with some paper or that tank decoration scenery.
Painting those walls dark blue to create a kinda cave like environment to help them relax a bit.

Add a few plastic aquarium plants to give the fish some cover.

I know this is an old thread but I was curious how this resolved. I've had a fox face now for a little over a month and it's showing similar redness at the base of the tail this morning. Very faint.

I have similar colors on my foxface. The color seemed to develop during a copper quarantine. He has been in the display tank for a week. Eating and behaving well. I'm interested in what became of the above fish as I'm about to add more fish to this new system.
