I've had the same problem for the last few months, new tank syndrome. One day I had mass amount of cyano the next day it was gone.

If tank is new it should go away on its own with water changes. Excess nutrients left over from the cycle will cause it as the tank has not fully established and good bacteria population to out compete the cayno which is a bacteria itself. Just do what you can to keep nutrients down (through water changes) and it should correct itself before to long

Thats a hard question to answer I do but I also hear by doing so it will release spores and spread however it has never spread in my tank. You can also increase flow to those areas to help but in my experance when you adjust flow to those areas you create other ares for it to grow so IMO its a wash not matter what you do. If you can get to it for easy removal then I would scrape it off the sides while siphoning for a water change and remove it that way.
