Red stuff on live rock- video attached

Got a fair amount of red growth on my live rock and am after some advice.
I will try and upload a video of me blowing it off with a turkey baster.

Is this dangerous for the tank

Looks like Cyano (hard to see). If you can blow it off pretty easily with a turkey baster, that's likely what it is. It's not harmful per se, but it can smoother corals. You can turn your lights off for a few days to kill what's there, but every tank can get it and it can always come back. Cyano loves old bulbs and sunlight, make sure your bulbs aren't past their prime. Also increasing flow and reducing nitrates/phosphates can help.

Edit - I would also recommend that you stop blowing it around with your baster, you're just spreading it. Instead, use a small tube (airline or 1/4" tubing would be better) and suck it out during a waterchange.

Agreed! Cyano If the natural removal techniques don’t work you could try stuff like Chemi clean.

Far far far from what you could consider a tank emergency. It’s cyano bacteria. Extremely common. Chemiclean will knock it out in 24hrs.
