Hi guys, I'm getting this red substance in my sand bed I have no idea what it is.
It first showed under the sand bed... I could see it thought the glass and now little by little has come to the surface.

I had a cyano issue a few months back, but this looks different, it has a lot more color. It don't seem to be affecting anything, I noticed some of the turbo snails even eating it.

In my sump there is miracle mud, cheato and culerpa I think they are called (the red and green grass looking thing) the red one as taken over the sump and the green one looks like it's dying, its super small now.

Parameters are high in trying to lower them now. For the pass week they have been 480 for cal, 9.3 for dkh, 1360 for magnesium and salinity 1.026.
I was trying to go for red seas coral grow program but have noticed some of my zoas closing thight every now and then ever since I raised the parameters, now I'm planing on dosing less to keep them at 430, 8.2, 1310 and 1.025
The tank is 65g and 20 maybe 30g sump. I'm doing 10g water change every week and adding 2 litters of fresh water everyday to the sump.

Should I be worry about this red carpet looking thing on my sand bed

looks like cyano, what are your nitrates and phosphates? how much flow do you have?
They test at 0 with api test kit. Lfs test them at 1 and .1
There is a moderate flow on that area

I thought it was coraline or some type of sponge

Purple on rock - coraline. Red on sand - cyano.

Nnoooooo I was afraid it would be cyano [emoji24]
I'll clean it tomorrow before it gets out of control.

Thank you!

I have two nassarius in there, I'm gonna have to start cleaning that sand more often

Carefully suck it up usually. If it gets bad ive done a 3 day blackout to kill it off before.

I agree you want to suck it out when doing a water change let gravity so it's thing just don't keep removing too much of your sand.

Syphon it out with a hose and do small water changes and it will be gone in 2 weeks Max. Check your parameters. And have good flow. That's always cured it for me and my customers.
