red things on angler?

So yesterday I got an angler fish, and today I noticed that it has some red things on its skin. Is it a parasite, or is it natural growths from the angler itself?Can anyone diagnose it? Not too sure if you can see it here in this pic, but it looks like about 2 to 4 mm long, almost like red string.

Where is it hard to see in the pic. Is it out of a gill?

No it is not out of a gill... here is a better pic

If it were a disease, I would guess anchor worms. However, it's probably something normal for an angler (I don't know much about them except that they are weird. )
