Red things on underside of pectinia?

Noticed these red growths on the underside of my pectinia coral while doing tank maintenance. I haven't seen them anywhere else in the tank yet. Any idea what they are? Are they harmful/something I should remove and watch out for?

You can safely pick or scrape off but its harmless substance known as foriminifera
 
@vetteguy53081 @Soren thank you so much for such a quick answer!! Even if they are harmless, is there any reason it might be better to remove them? Or if I don't remove them, anything I should watch out for?

I think they are harmless if not desirable as filter feeders.
If I ever find them in my tanks, I definitely think they are interesting and nice to keep.
