HI, I believe i have what is Red Turf Algae, I have two Mexican turbos that don't seem to munch on it much. I also have a tuxedo urchin that I cannot tell if it is helping. I plan to buy two more pincushion urchins to see if they help. At this point it is not out of hand but I would like to keep it from growing. I have no registering phosphates or nitrates. All my parameters seem good and I don't have any other nuisance algae aside from nagging bits of red slime in some hidden areas. I do not have a fuge and my lights are 2 radion g4 pros set to AB+ on a Reefer 350. Thanks for the Help!!!

I also noticed it’s mostly in spots that are very shaded. I guess that could mean it’s either something is eating it or the lighting is burning it out. Let me know.

I would turn off the lights for 3 days. I had it worse and I did turn off the lights for 5 days. It worked.

Thanks, but unfortunately I did that once a while ago for other algae and it killed a lot of my SPS, so I am not able to do that. Especially as this type of algae seems to like areas where there is no light.
