I recently switched over to the new Radion Gen 3 Pro and I have the brightness set at 65 percent right now, My question is how high should I turn the red and green leds up? I know it probally depends on depth of each users tank(36x24x18) but I'd just like to here from some of you sps addicts on how high the red and green and uv should be turned up? I searched around and could not find my answer so Sry if there's already a thread about this and please link it to me if there is and pictures of your tank would be awesome thanks!

Mods please delete the other 3 threads so sorry Tapatalk messed up and wasn't letting me post I thought but really it posted 3-4 times lol, Sorry

I've got my reds and greens on 100%

Wasn't there any of the preset programs you liked?

There was a couple presets I liked but I made my own which I like better cause it looks better to me, Right now I have the red and green turned down to 20 percent so I'm just wondering if I should turn those up higher, Iv red that the reds can promote more algea growth but idk if that's true? I know red is one of the first colors filtered out in the ocean and rarely reaches corals but it's not gunna be filtered out in our shallow tanks correct? Green Penetrates water pretty good but I'm not sure where I should start it out for coral growth?

Too much red does promote bad algea.

The Cree Cool White already has enough Green Spectrum.

Look at the Green and Red as makeup on a pretty girl...How much is your choice as its just for looks...

Growth via photosynthesis is mostly the Royal Blue....

Haha thanks man! That's what I was thinking, What your opinion on the Uv?

I have noticed some algae as well when switching to 100% reds and greens.I've got some green algae growing on my corraline. I love the look of it, but I might try the radiant color program again. probably just extend the peak period for viewing purposes.

UV or actually Hyper Violet 410-430nm is great. The more the better.

The only problem is they are not nearly as bright as the 450-455nm Royal Blue. You need a bunch of them (I have 24 on my 330 gal SPS Tank to make a difference) and you loose some efficiency as they require more current for the same PAR output.

The bottom line is if you can afford them they do help a little with colour pop and highlighting certain pigments but given their intensity, they are not my first choice for efficient growth.

Thank you for the info! I have my uv close to 100 percent now and your right they are definitely not nearly as bright as the blues lol but they do look nice.
