Pretty sure this is red valonia. I’m still pretty new and always thought it was regular bubble algae and was treating it accordingly. Pulling all the rocks and manually removing doing our best not to pop them. They come right back. Emerald crabs don’t seem to touch them. Not sure what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

Doesnt look quite right for bubble algae....can you put some in a container and take a pic?

I don’t think it’s regular bubble algae. I think it is called red valonia. The spots on it are actually fluorescent orange. It probably wasn’t three weeks ago my wife and I pulled every rock out one by one and pulled all of them off with tweezers doing our best not to pop any of them. This is just one rock, but they are everywhere again. They hold their shape pretty well and are easier to get a picture of out of the tank.

Yup now they look like it...i wonder if vibrant would work on them as well as it does on the other nuisance algae....

I actually try to grow it, my chocolate tang loves the stuff. There's a quick write up here: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-02/hcj/feature/index.php
I don’t have any tangs in my system. Only a 75, but after reading this article, I didn’t think tanks would touch them either.
