so, i just noticed these tonight. not sure if they move, or what. its my first time noticing these, and dont know how long they have been present. but as you will see in the picture, there are red vein like structures. i assume that they are an algae, but i dont know. thoughts or experience would be welcome. also, do i need to worry about whatever they are?

hi, pic will help, blind guess ,spaghetti worm, google to match, generally harmless .

do the move ? spaghetti worms.
if not ,type of red algae .

yeah, too red for spg worms, would also see them moving.
cannot give you id red algae.
poss @Eagle_Steve or @F i s h y can ... :)

also, i used a toothbrush, and was able to run it across where some of these were, and it came off quite easy. didnt come off all in once piece. the only thing i have done recently is add a bottle of pods from algae barn. i doubt that has anything to do with this, but figured i would mention just in case

I just checked my sump, and found what seems to be the same thing, except they are white as if the died out. Coincidentally, there are also a couple large, what I assume are sponges. Are these red veiny things perhaps the start of soonge growth?

definitely sponges in sump, not dead red,
the red is a type of string /hair algae, just not sure if micro or macro,
would refrain from scrubbing off until id'd, if red hair may just be spreading.
hang tight someone will come with positive id.

The sump area gers no light, so I'm curious as to how it would start if it's an algae. Also, with as new as this tank is, I'm quite surprised at the amount of sponges, and more surprised at the size of a couple. A couple Are tha size of a dime

It almost appears as if it some type of algae that is growing in the cracks of your rocks. Thus giving it a vein appearance. It doesn't appear to be the starts of any desirable macro. Unfortunately until it grows more may not be able to get a positive ID.
