Hello. I recently picked up a juvenile red velvet wrasse at my LFS. He was there for a while and lost a lot of color. I figured I can get a good price for him and I did. 30$ ! I figured I can rehabilitate him and get it back to a beautiful fish and save him. I'm feeding him like hatchery pellet food which I know is a great pellet food. He's eating great and is doing well. Will his color come back? And what else should I be doing to get him back to tip top shape. Also my tank isn't covered. What's the best way to cover a tank without loosing light intensity? Thanks

Do you know why he lost color? I would do a screen top. There are a few diy kits out there. Good diet, good water quality and stress free environment are the best way to keep fish looking their best. I would just make sure he isn't suffering from an illness.

+1 feed a varied diet will help.

In situations like this, it's always best to QT the fish and treat with some broad spectrum antibiotics while offering a varied diet.
