Red & White hitchiker ID?

OR!!!!! If you can extract it maybe see if @Wiz or someone else wants it! If it is indeed a eunice. But whatever you do, don't get rid of it without snapping a picture first. ;)

The idea of fragging some of the green star and giving the rock a dip in something sounds good. Maybe?

My son has insisted on being present when I attempt to clear the rock. He wants the camera ready when the monsters pour out.

^ yes I do. ;)

I've seen a small eunice that was pink with a white collar. Possible the original is a different kind of eunice. I agree the dark pics clearly show a collar. That definitely looks eunice. Keeplease me in mind before ditching them. :) my fuge isn't scary enough yet. Lol

I haven't been able to get pics of the original one. It was bright red and white. It didn't look like the Eunice to me, but I only saw it once, and quickly. It might be like those eye witness reports of a robbery. Maybe it's really blue with yellow polka dots and my memory has morphed it beyond recognition. I guess we'll find out when I've got the rock in a bucket with Revive.

I've never tried shipping anything live before. I'll have to look up how to ship monsters, I mean worms, so that they aren't DOA. Would the revive kill them?

They are generally pretty hardy. I do Styrofoam in a priority 2 day usps with a hand warmer.

I would actually collect such specimens if I had a big enough refugium or like a dedicated creepy tank. I enjoy the ocean and all its beauty and creepiness lol. I have some nice sized bristle worms in my tank and I enjoy watching them as much as I enjoy my corals. They remind me of the diversity the ocean has and that I have a vast biodiversity in my 29 gallon box right in my home, very fascinating hobby.

My family was just discussing similarly. I'm very new to the hobby, and everyone has been enjoying the game of "let's look in the tank and see what's new in there."
I can't believe I just grabbed all this stuff with my bare hands and threw it in when I first set up. Even in a 30g tank- so much life! I now own a pair of gloves, solely due to worms.
Personally, I also enjoy some of the creepy crawlers. I love my brittle star and shrimp. I get a real kick out of my hermit crabs. The couple of bristle worms don't actually bother me (much). I don't like vermitids though, and got rid of them. I also don't like the idea of something in there killing the lovelies I purposefully put in my tank. I lost a CBS (not from a molt) for no discernable reason, and want to blame whatever is in that rock. May not be true, of course.

I've got the rock in a bucket with revive. I did this in conjunction with a water change. So far, the only thing I've seen are three mini brittle stars.

Where are the worms?!

Now I'm wondering how long I should leave it until I give up on seeing the worms, and just put this back in the tank.[emoji53] This rock has a toadstool leather and is encrusted with GSP, so I don't want to leave it out too long.

Where ARE you, worms???

No sign of the mysterious worm or the eunicid since the original sighting.
Tank appears to be down to 2 bristle worms too. I appear to be vermatid free since I glued in the original ones.
