I am reading 16:1 ration. Is that mean 16ppm nitrate and .10 phosphate? Can’t be 1.0 phosphate correct?

Have you read redfield paper? He mentioned 16 to 1 nitrogen to phosphorus not 16 to 1 nitrates to phosphates, not once nitrates are mentioned on redfield and why ignore carbon? Specially wend carbon is the main nutrient for balance

The Redfield ratio has nothing to do with setting target levels in reef tanks. You are best off ignoring it entirely and independently targeting both N and P to appropriate levels.

definition is 116 C-16 N -1P which is the ratio of Carbon to Nitrogen to Phosphorus, and as Randy Said its not really useful for our purposes besides being interesting .

What part do you find interesting? Just out of curiosity

Well my phosphate is .21 and nitrate is 16. Some of the corals are dying. Just curious if I need to lower them a bit.

Don’t fall into the mistake of using redfield to set a target nitrates and phosphates in a reef tank
