Ok so for a while I used my 125g super nice display tank merely for frag prop and grow out. Was not ideal.
Being 6ft long the lighting was expensive and the water was pretty deep. Restricted me to Lps mainly. I'm trying to sell the beast and get something more shallow. Preferably the same length.
Locally I found the only frag tank but I told my friend about it first and well...there isn't much else like it around. So! I must either build one or find alternatives.
I will never ever use 55g tanks again either. They are so skinny and deep its.hard to make a rack big enough to hold the corals and small enough to clean around.
A 75 would be a great shape if it was shorter. But a cube would be ideal. However I'm also restricted in floor space since my fish room is long and skinny.
So my goal will be something like 40g breeders plumbed inline with some LEDs above them. All my frags come from my display tank so they are healthy.
To be honest I have taken so many precautions I can barely point out a pest if I saw one! Ok maybe not that bad. But I have no issues so I feel fine plumbing it that way. Bypassing wont be a hard thing either. One sump with return lines o each tank and valves between them on the overflows. As Long as I remember to open them all haha.
Just an IDea in the works.
If anyone has any relatively simple frag tanks and has ideas for ansimplemway to display and grow frags that would be awesome. Don't want to over think.
I have 500 plus an amazing tank to sell then I can start the build.
Already have the pumps and stufff really just need the water boxes lol. Or a least the design.
I will be using the reef breeders LEDs. 1 per 36 inches of water.
