Redsea 50 choosing the perfect spectrum

Whats Up guys!!!
First I want to say that don't use to post or comment very often due to something that I see here in this post:
This friend (@new 65g ) is asking about Spectrum or any feedback about how to play with the REDSEA 50 light, but reading the comments down the conversation turns over fish size, the fox face, the tang, etc, etc. THAT IS NOT HIS PROBLEM RIGHT NOW. He might know or is aware that the size of those fishes will be a problem soon or later. He needs help with the Lights it think.

@new 65g brother. I read you are new to the hobby, so let me give you my opinion.
1- The spectrum that you edit (the one on the right is perfect). Redsea design that light that you can not mess up the Spectrum and your corals will be always getting what they need. You can change it for your Visual Preference, more white or blue, That is up to you.

2- Yes, those lights aren't too powerful, but you mention you new to the hobby so I guess you are not going SPS/Acropora only tank, so... those lights will do the Job.

3- In the future you can complement those RS50 with a T5 fixture. (like Aquatic Life).

So far you are good, you are new to the hobby. Set those lights as you like to see the tank. Trust me, people kill more corals due too much light rather than not too much lights.

I see No issue having a 4" FF and 3.5" sailfin in that dimension tank. They will need an upgrade in the future. Sure.
yes ethics are up to the person but most will agree, causing unnecessary stress to an animal for our own entertainment would in fact be unethical, which was the point I made.
I also made sure to stress the fact about the fish size mattering and having a plan as well as saying the tank size is too small for the specific species of fish. I was not the one that immediately called it unethical just unethical if nothing would be done in the future for these 2 fish.

Also lol, yes maybe if it is 3.5" instead of the 3" i said, then sure, but as I said we dont know the size of the tang.
Given my own experience foxface arent comfortable in this size tank even for a little while although people on here like to keep them in smaller tanks (which i will always point out isnt a good thing to do, they just grow too large). Tangs usually start pacing as they get a little larger especially in a narrow tank that is only 36" long as there isnt much space for them to move. It is pretty much accepted here that tangs are not fit for such small tanks, at least it seems to be generally agreed upon (maybe kole or tomini but not the species being talked about.

Even revhtree has written minimum tank sizes for tangs so people can have them. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/tank-sizes-for-tangs-help-us-create-a-list.82891/

Just as I have no right to force feed you my religion and politics, I also have to right to apply MY ethical standards to your reef, and expect you to care.
Except, as Ive said before, this is a forum. You are allowed to put opinions out there so people can have them even if they dont want to accept them. As you can clearly see I havent been saying "take this fish back to the store now, you are a bad person," nor would I ever. I merely informed OP about tank size and species requirements, that was all
Correct. Without asking any quantifiers, Y'all started lecturing on fish selection in somebody else's tank.
You immediately began lecturing piranha about ethics when they wrote their opinion, which they are allowed to have

Thanks for the information I'm grateful for the help. Lessons learned next time I'll only provide tank dimensions not a photo ugh!

What other people have to say is fine. I can say my fish are very happy and healthy. For the record the sailfin tang is just bigger than a silver dollar and the ff is only about 4". What other people don't know is I most likely will upgrade too much larger tank in the not so distant future. Additionally if I had a question about fish vs tank size I wouldn't have posted it in a lighting forum duh......

By the way.... I have 2 Tanks, both SPS dominated... One of them is the RedSea Max Nano... You will find a bunch of guys saying the RS 50 LED doesn't grow SPS.... Hahahaha... Mine is packed with high end sps and only sps. I'm pretty sure is one of the most beautiful tanks you can see and guess what? I never post 1 picture here. Why? to prevent somebody makes my blood boil giving stupid opinions.

We should also remember, that thread is talking about full grown, forever homes. Now interim growout tanks.

When opinions are distributed and represented as universal Facts, that's an issue and should be called out no matter the source.

I reminded Piranah they don't have a right to impose their moral compass on others in a respectful way. I hardly consider that lecturing but I suppose some may.
Buying fish with plans of returning is unethical and cruel.
This is masquerating opinion as fact.

Also don't let the words that they aren't super powerful dissuade you. I run two of them over a dedicated nem tank with t5 supplement. They look amazing.

Yes, but again that is what I was talking about as well which is why i wrote about the fish species and not as a tiny fish which is hard to see from the picture how big they are.
It needed to be added as those fish species are too large for even a 65

Yes there is no reason to call out opinion as fact or directly call someone unethical without asking all the facts. That is definitely a bit over the line.
I tend to leave room for the OP or others to respond and dont type out something over a few sentences explicitly explaining every detail. This sometimes can lead to confusion but I feel it is better than forcing my opinion on others which it can sometimes seem like if i write too much.

I think we both have valid opinions here and its probably best to leave it there lol. We both dont know the facts fully and it really doesnt matter as long as the OP now knows about the general species requirements now.

This is good info, are you using the red sea 50 or 90? What is the tank depth? How many t5 are you using to supplement lighting?

I wrote before that using orphek or quanta bars could be all the OP needs for lighting but needed the tank dims before hand which got us into all this lol. I find the led bars as easier additions than t5 but I also still use t5 bulbs as well on one of my tanks because they are just great for giving the tank a blanket of light

The tank is a RSR250 (54g display) Running nothing but the ReefLED 50's maxed out was enough until I added Haddoni carpets, then a beautiful H. Magnifica. They all wanted MOAR LAMP.

I retrofitted an eight bulb t5 grow light, and I'm running two Blue Plus two coral plus, 6 hours a day.

Given that info I would think the x2 orphek or 2x quanta bars could do a similar job and depending on the optics might penetrate a deeper tank better (obviously not as good for shadowing but not a huge problem unless you have larger sps)

I can unequivocally say the reef breeder strips will not be any help at all...

One of my 30-in clone orphek light bars puts out more measurable par, than two 60", "High Octane" RB strips...

That sucks, i dont really know anyone using the reef breeders ones though and maybe it is due to it being mostly weighted in the violet spectrum and not blue, not really sure as I never really measure par and just go by how my corals are doing.
Most i know use reef brite or orphek in general. I actually am trying out an aliexpress 470nm strip and that thing puts out a crazy amount of light for the price, i just dont want to recommend it unless I test it out more because of the narrow blue spectrum

The 470 clones are what I'm running.

RB talked high game on the high octane out of the 3 series lineup. There's no power behind them. Only fluorescent pop.
