Redsea Iodine test. WHAT'S CLEAR MEAN?!

what the heck does this mean? I have perform this test in the past and usually I'm right around 0.06. I know this isn't the most reliable test and I am in the process of ordering a Hanna nitrate checker to use the iodine hack on it to hopefully get more accurate results. I did just dose iodine today but what the heck does clear mean?! Does that mean it's way high? I don't really see anything unusual in my tank, all my corals are pretty happy. My Bubble Gum Digi is more retracted than usual but right next to it my Bonsai Digi is fine. My dendro is not extended fully but it's a new addition so it's hard to tell. Clown fish is just hanging at the bottom but he is always weird. First pic of of the Bubble Gum second of Bonsai. Iodine is depleted rapidly in reef tanks, so it is not surprising to be low. That is different than saying dosing it is "useful". I found it to not be, but others seem to think it helps something in their tanks.

Without dosing, my total iodine by ICP settled to around 0.02 ppm.

Thanks Randy. I was hoping you would see this. You're the one I wanted to chime in here. I actually read your article you did on Iodine in the Reef tank. Some of it was far past my simple mind but it was still a great read. I just bought a Nitrite tester from Hanna the HI-707 and am going to use it with my RedSea reagents to test now. So the different forms of Iodine is what makes testing tough. Is there even any point to do that test? I like to test before I dose but if I'm testing forms that I'm not even dosing that would make my dosing inaccurate. I have a lot of Chaeto and other Macros and a few inverts and softies I wanted to dose it for & I have it so why not? Brightwell Aquatics Iodion is what I have. Would I be better off just dosing a single ml every 2-3 days knowing it won't put my levels too high or can they creep up? I have an 18.5 gallon total water tank. According to the back of the bottle each ml raises the Iodine concentration in 1 gallon by 0.8 so that would make my 1ml in my 18.5 gallons add 0.04ppm. I just don't want to cause toxic Iodine levels in my tank. My clownfish was acting weirdly last night even though he always behaves strangely I was convinced that I had overdosed iodine. At 1:30 in the morning I did a 15% water change. He's fine this morning and still in the same place he was last night low in the sand but my Dottyback is out swing around just fine, I think I probably overreacted.

This kit works backwards. The color gets lighter with increasing concentration.
@Rick Mathew can probably tell us if the kit indeed goes nearly clear like that at high iodine concentrations.

Yes it will go nearly clear with higher Iodine levels....the test is also time and temperature sensitive...as I describe in this article https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/using-hanna-checker-hi-707-to-test-for-iodine.743/

Wow, thanks. I've never seen a kit like that. It seems like a design oddly prone to mistakes being seen as very high levels.
