perhaps this has been discussed before but in a quick search i havent found my answer.

This particular test i cant seem to figure it out. my water turns from the pink straight to IMO purple never hitting the blue it says it should. so i feel like the .02 mL b4 that should be my answer HOWEvER this never happens before .8 which is where it says you have gone too far start over.

I guess my question is this. Is the test not functioning properly or am i doing something wrong ORRRR do i just happen to have an abundance of magnesium in my water. I am using RODI water.

It’s not an easy test kit, mine went in the bin a few years ago, it always said magnesium was high, and a triton test said it was very low

Just follow the instructions precisely and repeat the test. Of course it could mean your magnesium is high

I use the NYOS kit now which is so simple and also matched the triton within about +/- 5

Weird. I've always used this kit and have never once had an issue.
I get very repeatable results with this kit.

Fill vial with 2ml tank water.
add 1 drop reagent A, shake for 15 seconds. (do this 5 times)
add 1 drop reagent A, shake for 15 seconds.
add 1 drop reagent A, shake for 15 seconds.
add 1 drop reagent A, shake for 15 seconds.
add 1 drop reagent A, shake for 15 seconds.
add 5 drops of reagent B, shake for 60 seconds.
screw vial onto titrator.
fill 1ML syringe with 1ML reagent C and insert into titrator.
start titration.

If you aren't getting the color change by .80 then I'd have to think your MG is pretty high.
If that is the case, then don't stop the test at .80, just keep going until you do get a color change and then see what the reading is...

If this is the case then I get around 0.9 when it starts when it actually changes. But it never actually goes to Blue it goes from the pink to the purple for my eye and for my wife's eye so I don't really know when it actually changes color I'm going to have to assume I'm probably in the 1500 to 1600 range if the test is actually working properly
