Hows k2-50 skimmer do you need to keep water level constantly at 100% otherwise it makes loud noise ? does that also apply to all skimmer ?

I currently use a vertex 130, but I wouldn't recommend it necessarily since with the external pump it takes up a lot of the space in the sump and you need to be a little careful that the pump or skimmer isn't touching the walls (makes a lot of noise). In addition the skimmer is pretty oversized, and is difficult to manage unless you place a needle valve in the air intake.

I'd suggest going for something with an internal pump to save space.

For a return pump, I'm using an Eheim compact 2000 on my 170. It's much quieter than the comparable Tunze pump. For a skimmer I'm using an Aquamaxx WS-1. The sound is hardly noticeable when the doors are closed and it skims like a champ.

Thx guys i went with ecotech m1 and nyos 120

I see you already got some pumps. I always thought the ecotech m1 wouldn't fit in the return section, I could be wrong. The S1 was going to be my choice. I ended up with a Reef Octopus VarioS-4 for the return, and it's great at about 50%.
