Redsea reefer 525 XL

Let’s get it started. Time to build the stand. I take it they don’t give the soft tubing for the return line anymore?

How does the shipping work? I've never bought a new tank before, just got it off craigslist. I see they bring a truck. Do they have a forklift or do you have to get a bunch of people to move it? Just wondering for the future. Planning on getting a 400G tank in the future. Still not sure if I'm gonna buy new or make it my self. I don't think Ill find a 400G on craigslist.

When I had mine delivered the guy off loaded and then had a lift to bring up into the garage. When reading the paperwork - it stated - if you sign inspect it throughouly or any damage found will be your responsibility - So I asked and the driver helped me uncrate it and look at all the pieces/parts.

The second one I had delivered the delivery guy helped me carry it down into the basement after he helped me unpack it.

Strong suggestion - don't accept a tank for delivery without inspecting it for cracks, etc. Of course you cant do a leak test with the driver there but - at least if there is a problem - they have to immediately take it back at their cost)

No - and dont be surprised - there will be 2 identical pieces of the base plate - (or kick plate) one white one black. You can choose which ever you want to use - you dont have an extra 'piece' thats supposed to go somewhere:).

Okay thx for the heads up. I didn’t know about the hard plumbing on the return line. I want to build a separate manifold to run all my reactors with a separate pump. I want to pull water from the skimmer section to my reactors and then dump back into the return section. I feel I’ll eliminate the recycling of the water this way.

Only defect I’ve notice so far is the Refugium section. It has 2 slots for you to put the refugium divider. One of the slots which is the slot to have the refugium section smaller was glued incorrectly. The divider doesn’t slide in the slots.

The slot/channel is supposed to be glued right where my thumb is. It’s glued under neath the sock holder so the divider won’t slide in

I just bought a Red Sea E-260 in December and they truck it to you. The freight company will make an appointment to drop it off in your garage, (if you have one).

Need a suggestion... I was going to use my same rock I had in my old tank. A couple nights ago I noticed a bunch of what looked to be "Vermatid" Snails. Did some research and seems they are bad for coral. Should I bleach the rock and clean it off and start the cycle all over again in my new build?

Finally spoke to someone from Redsea today and they said the slots do go under the sock holder and the sock holder needs to be removed in order to slide the refugium divider into place... Would of made more sense for them to glue the slot a few CMs to the right so it wouldn't be under the sock holder and the refugium divider could slide out without removing the sock tray first. Oh Well no biggie just being nit picky now LOL...

Need suggestions!!!! Feedback/input!!!!

So I was playing with the rock while baking it in the sun and came up with this.

We got wet last night. :) ran out of water, should be full tonight. I have a power head and heater on in the DT to get things going for now.

Tank is looking good, I have vermitids in mine, my melanarus wrasse seems to help keep them in check but not completely.
I will definitely add some wrasses once I’m ready. Cycling is the worst part of a new tank... lol
