Looking for advice with the downflow valve on my RedSea Reefer 300 G2. I have seen online that I’m not the first to have an issue with this. I don’t have any issues with noise but tuning it to the right level is an ongoing battle. Anyone got any insight on what I can do to remedy this (without replacing the valve itself)?

New set up? If older clean the valve but I'm going to assume its new. It is one finicky valve to adjust. I thought about doing a gate valve swap on mine but read about too many people that still had trouble so I stuck it out with the stock valve. Asjustments need to be made in very fine increments. So fine that untill you get used to it you'll feel like your not turning it enough to make a difference. Move it a couple of degrees and wait several minutes for the level to adjust. Rinse and repeat. Mine normally runs just at the bottom of the overflow tube or just so there is a trickle going down. I tried to always get it just below with no trickle but gave up. It's just to darn sensitive but once adjusted mine stays pretty stable. Every once in a while I'll have to tweak it but not often. I can't stress enough, adjust it very very slowly.

This is assuming yours is similar to my reefer 170.

Only time I've ever had issues was during water changes, if you replace a little more or a little less than what you had it may need a slight adjustment.
When I turn my return pump off, I'll make a mark on my sump where the water level settles at so that when you refill, you fill up to that mark and everything should be good. Same with display, I made little tick marks at 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 gallons to keep an eye on how much I've taken out, and just refill back up to the 0.

I have the 200xl g2 so it should be the same. Manual says to have water line in the overflow box 1 cm below the emergency overflow drain. I have mine above that barely, just a very slow trickle into the emergency drain works for me.
