Can anyone tell me how much clearance I need from the tank to the wall to install these brackets as my tank is quite close

would like to know the measurement from the outside glass to the end of the clamp screws

It is right at 2" with the screws out as far as they will go. I would allow a bit more space for your hands. Also the screws can be a bit tricky sometimes in a tight space.

Thanks, could the screws go in anymore but making sure the brackets still slide in?

depends on the tank. I have 3/4" glass and I have to have the screws all the way out to get the mounts on.
