Their app is really nice though, free etc... Do you need it on the Apex?
I setup my schedules in the red sea app, then I monitor power consumption, failure on the APEX through the APEX powerbar.

The apps is nice I do agree..that being said I like an all in one app you would thing a major player like red with have a apex setting also the reef beat app is very glitchy wen you run previews lights flash like strobes also wifi connection is not a constant
