Hi to all.
I have an RSK600 skimmer that is very (to me) noisy. I can ear the bubble breaking at 2 meters away.
If I close one of the 2 air inlet hole in the silcencer, the noise is cut in half, but still present.

Is this normal ?

Same thing happened to me. And same for the RSK300. I added a CO2 scrubber to help raise Ph (which it did) and it had the added benefit of making the skimmer intake silent. Same can be done by running your skimmer line outside.

are you saying adding two small tubes from the top of the silencer to outside the tank cabinet?

Nope, although that might help. I’m saying use a new hose to connect to the venturi and then either connect that to a CO2 scrubber (regardless of where you place the scrubber) or run the new air hose outside if you can. I run my line under my basement door. Either way, you won’t need the air silencer any longer.

These are great skimmers, but as factory designed, the air noise is crazy!

I had the 300 when it came out and the drone of that thing in my living room was annoying - Red Sea sent a new pump and no change so I sold both and broke even. Essence 130 is really silent by comparison. I really liked the 300 and wish they would improve it to actually be quiet like the ad info claims.
