For anyone with a 250 sump I have a few questions. I am trying to get mine setup I replaced the redsea valve with a gate valve but need to get a better return pump.

what’s your water level height in the return section?
Where do you keep the water level in the rear section? Between main drain and emergency or just going down the emergency?
Whats your return pump?

Set up the tank volume so you have approx. 6” above the pump inlet in the return section. You can later play with the height to optimize other compartments with the adjustable weir adjacent to the return compartment.

The water level height in the overflow section should be 1 cm below the main drain, don’t drain into the overflow pipe that’s an emergency measure. I’ve owned a 250 for about a year, these are the manufacturers instructions and I found them to work the best. But may differ depending on the size of your equipment, i.e. return pump and skimmer.
