RedSea, Waterbox, with different sump????

Hi, i was looking at the Red Sea setups and Waterbox setups this past weekend. I was wondering if anyone is using a different sump , like a custom sump with these tanks and how their experience is in doing that.

I have a custom Geo sump i will be using with my next tank and I was wondering if it is a good idea to use it with one of these setups like a Waterbox or Red Sea tank.

Please give me your opinions

Did you need to get metric plumbing conversion pieces to plumb it?

Not with these sumps, they are plug and play. I swapped out my drain valve a long time ago due to my RedSea valve needing constant adjustments.
