I have a 20G QT which currently has 3 inhabitants - 2 Clowns and 1 Diamond Watchman Goby. Everyone is doing great and I've been monitoring parameters daily (including Nitrates, Nitrites, Ammonia, pH, Salinity, and Temp); however, I have never really trusted by Red Sea Refractometer. Long story short, I purchased a Milwaukee Digital Refractometer, calibrated, and it's reading 1.028. I would like to bring this down to 1.026 ideally - which is where I keep our main DT - and was wondering the safest way to do this. Should I remove a gallon, add back a gallon of fresh RODI and then test after a little while or will this type of change be too drastic for the current inhabitants?

That should be fine. Going down on salinity is easier on livestock than going up.
