I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you wanting to know about alternatives to NoPoX? It's a carbon dosing source to encourage beneficial bacterial growth in your tanks, there by lowering nutrients.
I used it successfully but did have side effects...a bacterial bloom in my case.
Other things you can use in it's place include plain white vinegar (my preference) or vodka. Both work the same way. Do be careful as you do not want to bottom out your nutrients.
