what if any additives should I be putting into my reef setup

nothing you can't test for. alk, ca, mg, salt. is a good starting point.
Yes you do need to test to see If what or any additives might be deficient.
Most salt mixes have all you need with regular water changes. If your tank Is stocked with lots of corals ten you might need supplemental dosing. But you have to test before deciding.
