Flow is one of the most important aspects of a proper reef. Plan ahead and make sure your flow matches your coral selection and placement.

What do you use for flow and why?

Flow is easily as critical as lighting. Effective flow that moves the entire water column is essential for coral feeding and waste removal, water oxygenation, and water quality. Effective flow keeps organics in the water column so they can be removed. I'm a big fan of the Vortech pumps, not necessarily because of the output, but because of the undertow they create that pulls water along the substrate and moves detritus into the water column.

Couldn't have said it better Gary! I use Vortech's as well and LOVE them. The undertow really helps with waste removal.

Can't say much that hasn't been said, flow's obviously a vital part to the system. I love my pair of mp10w's on my 45g cube. Especially hooked up to my Apex, the flow in my tank changes throughout the day. I think everyone's corals will agree that flow plays a big part in coral placement as well.
